This research used the simulation techniques employed in output 1, to develop a model that has been applied to the Volkswagen car plant located in Navarra S.A, Pamplona, Spain. The model contributed to the optimal decision of the location and sizes of in-process buffers, which ultimately reduced the overall work-in-progress of the line, speeding up the process and reducing inventory. Total saving was estimated at €500K pa. Contact: Luis Pinto Ferreira (luispintoferreira@eu.ipp.pt).
