<25>Our work provided the initial system modelling from simulation which then leads to detailed experimental explorations, for the first time, of the effectiveness of various optical launching conditions including centre launching and conventional offset launching in maximising the transmission distances of the legacy systems. It has been shown that centre launching enables a real-time 11.25Gb/s, adaptive power-loaded OOFDM transmission over an unprecedented distance of 2000m in a legacy OM1/OM2 MMF IMDD system.
