Additional information

In this paper time-dependent (e.g. creep) and strain-rate effects are combined, for the first time, into a unified modelling methodology. This approach is able to accurately simulate the soil stiffness in complex laboratory tests on natural clays. The model has been implemented into the Arup FE package SAFE. Results from users have shown that a closer fit to field data can be achieved. The model was developed with input from Brian Simpson of Arup Geotechnics (brian.simpson@arup.com).
