Additional information

Carbon dioxide emissions during Portland cement production account for 7% of the yearly global industrially produced CO2. This work develops a new type of inorganic polymer (geopolymer) cement, viable for concrete construction. As a result of the use of a natural raw material as binder, this technology promises significant reductions in energy and CO2 emissions. We estimated (ACI, Vol110, No3, 2013) that AANP cement manufacture results in 22-72% CO2 emission reductions, in comparison to Portland cement.
