There has been a resurgence in interest in computational limit analysis techniques in recent years; in this paper we present the first meshless equilibrium limit analysis formulation to have been developed for plate and slab problems, providing an attractive alternative to conventional formulations. The presented meshless formulation clearly obviates the need for a tailored mesh discretization, required by most finite element limit analysis formulations in order to obtain accurate results, and one of the main reasons why the latter have failed to gain uptake by industry.
