Additional information
This paper presents a novel methodology for the improved characterisation of contaminated sites on fractured rock aquifers, using a multidisciplinary approach. The methodology is shown to be more cost-effective, giving better data quality, than current site characterisation practices, reducing the uncertainty in management decision-making, environmental risk assessment and remediation design for such sites. The methodology was recommended for in-house use and then implemented by a leading petrochemical company (contact Fraser Will: fraser.will@total.com).
