Additional information

A novel power shaping control strategy is described for DC power networks with constant power load. Such a power network is common in “more electric” aircraft/ship power systems and electric and hybrid vehicles. Stability of such systems is compounded by tightly regulated motor drives that behave like a constant power load and hence exhibit negative impedance characteristics. The control strategy described and demonstrated in the paper provides an effective means to address the stability problems in these emerging technologies. The work generated further collaboration with key industrial players in the field, such as Airbus (Matthieu.MARGAIL@airbus.com) via MOET project.
