Additional information

This paper was a key output of an EPSRC CASE project in improving the planning accuracy in prostate cancer radiotherapy treatment at Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology (CCO) (Case/CNA/05/74, Ren, £60K from EPSRC, £20K from CCO, 2006-2010, Project Manager). “It reports a realistic model to simulate the bladder deformation, which is important for understanding the clinical practice in managing water taking protocol for CT and MRI scanning” (Cancer Research Specialist, CCO). This work has led to another joint PhD project with CCO in characterising the properties of bladder tissues and other thin membranes (Cancer Research UK Fellow, CCO, 2010-2013).
