A Kinematic Approach to Calculating Ground Reaction Forces in Dance
This publication provides a solution for an on-going problem associated with kinematic analysis of human movement ie the calculation of ground reaction forces over an extended area in the absence of forceplate instrumentation. The methodology is an innovative use of biomechanics which provides a novel analysis technique that provides information previously unavailable. The software which has been developed in association with this publication has been requested by over 30 research institutions worldwide and a web based seminar was organised by Mathworks Inc and presented by James Shippen at which the biomechanical software developed as a part of this study was presented. Over 440 delegates registered for the seminar (a list of delegates is available on request).
