This paper presents a unique experimental comparison between conventional and direct injection in an engine system, and gives insight into the potential advantages of the new direct injection system. The research contributed to the award of a Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowship (Mikalsen – ECF/2009/0305) and a Carbon Connections UK Ltd project (Project 89 Bio-oil and Waste Hydrogen Dual Fuel CHP System).
