Material in common with output published prior to 2008.

As explicitly stated in the introduction, this paper draws on two major datasets that Rampton analysed in his 1995 and 2006 monographs, but it engages in an entirely original comparison, developing an argument with Coupland 2007. It was written in a sabbatical at the end of 2007, and published in an international journal committed to publishing ‘original articles’ (Language in Society inside cover).
