Additional information

This paper reports a unique study on the use of an Acoustic Emission parameter based approach to identifying the onset of cracking in reinforced concrete structures. The paper has contributed directly to further analysis of data from a variety of studies of real bridge structures including the politically sensitive investigation of the M4 Chiswick Flyover (as reported in Muhamad Bunnori (2010)) and the concrete hinge bridge investigations carried out for the Welsh Assembly (Jason.Hibbert@Walse.GSI.Gov.uk).
