Additional information

This paper reports the curvature pattern extraction method for 3D lesion data based on Paper 3. It has led to an enhanced skin-inspection device for clinical tests. This forms the basis for computer aided diagnosis of melanoma involving 3D data. Its effectiveness in computer aided diagnosis was validated by comparing with the direct method. This technique has now been incorporated into a photometric stereo device in use at Frenchay Hospital, Bristol, for “small scale” patient trials.
