Additional information

The Next Generation of Attenuation (NGA) project resulted in a suite of ground-motion prediction equations for the Western USA that continue to define the state-of-the-art in Engineering Seismology. These models represent signficant improvements over any European counterparts. This article presents the first statistical analysis of its kind demonstrating that the NGA models can be applied within Europe. The study has led to the NGA models being used for computing seismic risk for nuclear facilities within the PEGASOS Refinement Project (https://portal.swissnuclear.ch/index_en_files/info.html), where Stafford and Bommer served as consultants, and to Stafford being an adviser for the Global Earthquake Model (www.globalquakemodel.org, doi:10.1193/013013EQS017M).
