Additional information

<22> Corpus annotation is essential in NLP, but expensive to carry out. Teamware was the first web-based text annotation framework that enabled distributed teams of human annotators to work together, substantially reducing costs. Teamware is currently used by Lighthouse (Christa Deinum<cdeinum@lighthouseip.com>) and Ontotext (Atanas Kiryakov<naso.at.sirma.bg>) to offer commercial text annotation services, by 4 European projects to create new corpora (Khresmoi, TrendMiner, Pheme, Arcomem) and is available as a web service [see GATE ICS]. It underpins the EPSRC uComp project on game-based crowdsourcing and led to an invitation to contribute a chapter to the Handbook of Linguistic Annotation.
