<27>This research is a milestone in the development of a distributed and interactive system. Its integration between design and simulation has effectively reduced the number of design iterations to achieve optimal design solution at the system level. This research calls for a change of the current status: too much emphasis on collaborative design issues that overlook the simulation related issues. It has led to the proposal of a design-by-services paradigm published as an invited book chapter by Springer, paving the way for the exploration of the next-generation collaborative and integrated design systems.
