Additional information

Based on a collaboration between University of Manchester, Southwest University (China) and Tianjin University (China) in conjunction with Alstom, Siemens and Rolls-Royce (EPSRC project EP/C015185/1), this presents new theoretical developments opening the way to the implementation of fault detection algorithms to systems with limited computational ability of processors in system health monitoring units, where special types of processors and other electronics are required. The developed approach reduces computational complexity of considered fault detection techniques making them realisable on “slow” on-board computers. This approach allows substantial improvements in the performance of such fault detection techniques compared to previously known methods.
