Additional information

The advances in the control of the brushless doubly fed machine reported in this paper were critical in gaining an EU grant under the FP7 scheme for SMEs (Windrive ref FP7-SME-2012-315485, start date 1 November 2012) to carry out research on medium speed drive trains based on brushless doubly fed generators. Collaborators include Romax, the UK’s leading consultancy on wind turbine drive trains, Mita-Teknik (wind turbine control systems) and REpower (manufacturer of wind turbines). The project is valued at GBP782k (RG68100).
