Additional information

This paper presented a new method for analysing the wear in the contact patch between a railway wheel and the rail. For the first time it was shown that the inclusion of non-steady terms resulted in a significant difference in the predicted results and allowed a better understanding of the causes of corrugation on rails. This paper is one of three linked papers which report on the innovative use of novel 3D modelling techniques including non-steady and non-linear behaviour. The paper has been cited 15 times.
