Additional information

This highly accessed article, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, has been cited many times in the literature. It presents a novel and scalable approach to synthesise lightweight scaffolds for fuel cells and biosensors. A joint research proposal with Professor Giannelis (Cornell University, U.S.A.) that builds on this approach is under development. Recognising the importance of the work, the organising committee of the Advanced Materials World Congress 2013 has invited me to deliver a talk on the subject as an invited speaker.
