Additional information

As the wind farms grow in size, they are required to act as conventional power plants and require to stay connected to the ride through the grid faults as specified in the grid codes. This paper is one of the first to investigate this issue and gives an insight into the power electronics and control required for the grid connection of wind farms. This work was funded by the Staffordshire University and the Arab Academy of Science, Technology and Maritime Transport and led to further funding from CONVERTEAM to look into the behaviour of fully fed wind turbines.
