Additional information

The first instance of extended x-ray absorption spectroscopy being used to address a long-standing debate in the Ni-based superalloy community, disproving a widely recognised theory formulated in the 1980s. Subsequently, over 10 articles (from research institutions in the USA, Germany, France and China) have been published addressing the specific topic covered by this publication using both simulations and experiments, sparking worldwide discussions and a fruitful collaboration with a research group (Prof. Muller) at TUHH, Germany, which will lead to several publications.
