Additional information

This work (funded by EPSRC grant EP/C006844/1 with Bristowe as PI) addresses the microscopic origin of delamination defects seen in multilayer optical coatings used in the glazing industry for solar control purposes. Our project partners, Pilkington Glass (NSG Group), viewed the work as “internationally outstanding” (Paul.Warren@nsg.com). Invited lectures related to the paper were given at the International Conference on Metallurgical Coatings and Thin Films, USA, 2008, and the 11th International Conference on Advanced Materials, Brazil, 2009.
