Additional information

It is very difficult and time-consuming to determine the composition and shape of nanoscale quantum dot structures by methods such as TEM. This paper describes: a) the first low computational cost method of modelling quantum dot-in-well detectors of various compositions, shapes and sizes; and b) development of a novel analysis method using this model in conjunction with simple spectroscopy to determine the average composition of quantum dot structures. This provides a highly cost-effective tool for optoelectronic device design and analysis, significantly reducing time needed for characterisation of a calibration structure from days or weeks to hours.
