The Complete Works of Gerrard Winstanley
Corns took primary responsibility for the establishment of the text and for the publishing history and he wrote the textual introduction. He also undertook the biblical and linguistic annotation, identifying biblical references and explaining the meaning of words where the meaning was obscure. All editors checked and supplemented each other's work.
Published as an Oxford English Text (the flagship series for scholarly editions by OUP) and now also available online (Oxford Scholarly Editions Online), this 1065-page publication, in two volumes, is the first complete edition of Winstanley. Produced to the highest standards of modern textual scholarship and with a 94-page introduction, wholly new textual apparatus and detailed commentary, this is unquestionably a major achievement, and a landmark in the editing of early-modern controversial prose.
