Additional information

Parameters used for transport modelling are typically estimated using a diverse range of methods and data. This paper develops meta-analysis techniques to quantify the impact of methodological practice on reported estimates of the effects of accessibility on productivity. It is the first paper of its kind in the field, providing guidance to academics and practitioners on appropriate interpretation of empirical evidence. Featured on the journal webpages as the journal’s most cited article since 2008, we have subsequently published two follow-on meta-analysis papers in leading journals using a similar approach (doi:10.1016/j.tra.2013.01.013; doi:10.1016/j.regsciurbeco.2013.05.002).
