Additional information

Multipath interference is a serious problem limiting the positioning accuracy in Global Navigation Satellite Systems. The choke ring ground plane, commercially available for mitigating multipath interferences, is bulky, heavy and expensive. This paper proposes a new technique using cross plate reflector ground plane (CPRGP). A prototype is developed. Compared to state-of-the-art techniques, the proposed CPRGP has a compact size, low mass, low cost, high-performance multipath mitigations, wide operational bandwidth, and is easy to fabricate. The work is collaborative with Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (m.unwin@sstl.co.uk), Centre for Communication Systems Research at Surrey University (t.brown@surrey.ac.uk) and Northwestern Polytechnical University, China (jdxu@nwpu.edu.cn).
