Additional information

This is an RAEng study, subject to robust scrutiny by the Academy’s Engineering Policy Committee. Integrating analysis of government statistics, previous research papers and evidence sessions with 30 industrialists and 20 academics, it was unique in taking a UK-wide view of heat policy and the challenges of meeting the triple objectives of reducing CO2 emissions, security of supply and affordability. The week following its launch, it featured in the Sunday Times, Guardian and other papers and was widely commented on in the trade press. Its conclusions have been replicated in government policy – the Renewable Heat Initiative and Energy Bill.
