Additional information

This paper describes the investigation of the award winning ground water cooling system for London Underground. Not only did the highly efficient system win Carbon Innovator of The Year Award, the knowledge gained has enabled the technology to be rolled out across the London Underground network but also has been copied by other metropolitan underground railways worldwide. The technology has been featured in many new items worldwide. It has lead to the development of two Professional Institution technical memorandum (TM Groundwater Cooling Systems and TM Ground Source Heat Pumps) and the development of Environment Agency policy.
