Double-weighted statement

This book was the result of four years of sustained research. It included reading, collecting and analysing a considerable range of materials: historical archives from the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries in six countries, digitized copies of early Pentecostal magazines and internet sources, autobiographical, literary and journalistic texts, and other more contemporary sources from Africa, Asia and Latin America. The contextualised analyses of data from large-scale transnational research and (in some cases) the dearth of published material meant sometimes searching for information from obscure sources, and checking this with contacts and existing literature.
