Additional information

This paper deals with the timely issue of how to increase the flexibility of the electricity system by exploiting the regulating capability of small-scale CHP plants. This is the first paper to highlight the particularities of the UK market that would affect CHP aggregation and demonstrate in a quantitative way how an implementation of CHP aggregation and increased flexibility would be affected by UK market conditions.

This paper was based on work done under the European funded (FP6) project DESIRE, for the large scale integration of wind energy using CHP with thermal stores.
