Additional information

<17>This well-cited paper, published in a premier IR conference (CIKM, CORE A status, 2008 acceptance rate: 14%), is one of the first works on what became an increasingly important topic both within academia and industry, namely opinion-finding.

It achieves a state-of-the-art performance without the computational overheads of NLP sentiment analysis approaches. Our approach was a top performer in the international TREC Blog track campaign (2006-2008), and has been a basis/benchmark for many works thereafter in opinion-finding. This paper was central to our invited monograph on Blog search published in the highly cited Foundation & Trends in IR series in 2012.
