Paper describes new method for obtaining bistability for symmetric laminates and led to patent (WO2012049500A1). Work led to further funding from US Airforce ($99k, 2011-3) and Toyota (£13k, 2011), and high-profile work in DSTL's Materials and Structures (MAST) programme [contact: Project Technical Authority]. Work has application for external air ducts and Weaver was invited to present work to three Formula-1 teams (Red Bull, Sept 2012; Ferrari, Sept 2012; Mclaren, Aug 2012).
