Additional information

This paper deals with the direct laser writing of metal oxide ceramics from sol-gel chemistry. Following a successful, but previously unreported, TSB project in the area, that demonstrated the potential of this novel process for 4 different ceramics, including Titania, Lead Zirconia Titanate (PZT), Calcium Hydroxyapatite and Zirconia, this paper is the first to report on this work using the developed laser writing technique, in this case for another ceramic, Alumina. The importance of this is the potential for “environmental” deposition of these materials without the need for special atmospheric or vacuum chambers.
