This book was based on analysis of a large body of historic manuscript sources, primary printed materials, and images dating from the French Revolution. This required an extensive amount of time working through the archival collections of a wide range of institutions in France including: (1) Archives de la prefecture de la police; (2) Bibliothèque nationale de France; (3) Bibliothèque historique de la ville de Paris; (4) Musée Carnvalet; (5) Musée du Louvre; (6) Musée de la Révolution Française.
