This paper presents a dual band antenna with isolated feeds at each band. It expounds the concept of antennas as system components with inbuilt duplexing and filtering functions as essential to reduce loop gain problems and component counts. The work followed collaboration with the photonics team at Kent and researchers at IEMN, Lille (jean-pierre.vilcot@iemn.univ-lille1.fr), funded by the European Commission Interregional scheme (Interreg IIIA GOSE ref 205-B), and led to a successful radio over fibre demonstrator resulting in further publications from the photonics team.
