Integra Live: a new software environment for the composition and performance of live electronic music
Integra Live is a new software environment for composing and performing live electronic music, developed as part of the 7-year, €3.1m Integra Project. Integra Live has received over 12,000 downloads worldwide since its official release in 2010, and has been used in many international public performances, including the Integra festival in Copenhagen and Bouffes du Nord in Paris.
Integra Live transforms creative practice by enabling musicians with no technology experience to incorporate live sound manipulation and synthesis into their compositions and performances. This has led to its adoption in teaching programs at San José State University and Liszt Academy of Music. (See also Impact Case Study 1.)
Bullock’s role was to oversee the software development process and to lead the development of the graphical user interface including interaction and user experience design, and to lead end-user research including usability testing. Bullock also devised the overall information architecture, and specified storage and communication protocols. See also Coccioli_01.
