Additional information
The work has implications for the practical application of high fidelity fire modelling to the simulation of large scale fire safety analysis. This concept formed the basis of a successful grant application which led to an EU FP7 funded three year project (FIREPROOF 218761) where the technique was further developed to assist in the rapid assessment of fire safety on large passenger ships in the early design phase. The work contributed to a PhD for Burton (2011). We are in discussion with the Australian DSTO to adapt the approach for use by the RAN (Zenka.Mathys@dsto.defence.gov.au, Head Naval Platforms Division).
