The research has led to the delivery of an architecture that enables Grid and Cloud users for the first time to utilise a wide range of services flexibly without being concerned with the development of cross-platform issues. This architecture has since been used to support Cloud platforms such as OpenStack and Eucalyptus using the notion of ‘Platform as a Service’ (PaaS).
