Additional information

This research presents a unique technique of one shot drilling of dissimilar multilayer materials having distinct properties (composites and metallic). The research was carried out in collaboration with several national and international partners (GKN Aerospace, Element Six, Ireland and Unimerco, Denmark) with total grant of £60k. This led to an invited talk at the international academy for production engineering (CIRP, Paris on January 2010), a world leading organisation in production engineering with 600 academic and industrial members from 50 countries. This work led to £60k funding for a collaborative research project with industry partners including GKN-Aerospace, E6 and Seco.
