Additional information

The paper reports the results of research funded by Cummins Generator Technologies (£220k). Mahkamov was PI for this project. Cummins is a world leading company in production of diesel-generators. An accurate two dimensional lumped parameter model (LPM) of a novel product (axial flux generators) was developed to provide the rapid steady state solution for its thermal state. The model was carefully checked by experimental tests and more complex CFD investigations. This model is being used by the R & D Department of the Company in new product development and its optimisation (Dr Neil Brown: neil.brown@cummins.com).
