Additional information

This is an invited original paper which appeared in a special issue on Future Trends in Machines. It presents the experimental verification of an original sensorless controller for doubly fed machines using an emerging brushless reluctance technology as a case study. The controller is nearly parameter independent and superior to most of the existing control solutions for wind turbine generators and variable speed drive systems with limited speed ranges. The paper is one of the significant outputs of the successfully completed collaborative EPSRC project (Ref. EP/F06148X/1) .
