Additional information

This paper proposes an optimization metric to enable feasible translation of the joint optimal transmitter beam parameters into an analogous level of divergence of the received optical beam in free space optical communications. This work was in collaboration with the Institut Fresnel, France as part of the EU Cost Action IC1101 (26 partners from 22 countries) (2011-2015). The work has led to two invited keynote talks at SPIE Photonics West 2013 (USA) and International Symposium on Photonics and Optoelectronics, May 2013 (China).
