Additional information

The paper describes an unprecedented class of luminescent materials which are of high interest to displays, lighting and luminescent bioimaging applications. The research, carried out in collaboration with Durham University, showed that by rigidly connecting several metal centers in one molecule very efficient phosphorescent red emitters can be prepared. The project was subsequently funded by EPSRC First Grant Scheme, EP/I014942/1 allowing the development of a new generation of such materials. The results are the subject of a patent application (P203328GB).
