Additional information

This article proposes a novel fuzzy-observer-design approach for Takagi-Sugeno nonlinear models with unknown output disturbances, which is the first paper that uses descriptor estimation technique to estimate sensor faults for fuzzy nonlinear systems. This is the outcome of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Fellowship (IV-CHM/1117303 STP), which was awarded to Gao. The work has led to further grants from Germany (Research and development project, KF2095004KM9, EUR 400k; and DFG, DI773/13, EUR 200k), industrial collaboration with the IAV GmbH and a keynote talk at the International Symposium on Advanced Control of Chemical Process, July 2012, Singapore.
