In this paper, a novel inter-connected hybrid observer is designed and experimentally implemented to estimate the capacitor voltages of a multi-cell DC-DC chopper. In practice, it is not easy to measure the high capacitor voltages of multi-cell choppers. This work was the result of a research collaboration between ECS Lab at ENSEA of Cergy Pointoise, Ampere-Lab at INSA of Lyon, France and the Electrical Engineering Laboratory at Qatar University. This work led to an invited keynote talk at the 3rd International Conference on Systems and Control on October 29, 2013, in Algiers, Algeria.
