The Getty Hexameters: Poetry, Magic and Mystery in Ancient Selinous
Obbink's contribution to this volume—beyond sole authorship of chapter 9 (“Poetry and the Mysteries”) and co-editing and co-translating the critical text and translation of the Getty Hexameters (to which contributors’ chapters are keyed throughout) and co-authoring the Introduction—consisted in correcting, coordinating and critically commenting on the contributions of the other authors (chapters 1-8 and appendix), incorporating their responses, cross-referencing the papers as well as adjudicating among disputed interpretations of individual passages; fact-checking; answering extensive copy-editors’ queries, sourcing images and graphics (including cover) and obtaining permissions for these from institutions, proof-reading, and compiling and checking the indices.
