Additional information

The VCSEL hysteresis elucidated in this work has been : used by Masoller ( Barcelona) in optical logic gates and for short optical pulse generation (Optics Express, 20, 22692, 2012; Optic Express, 16,17482,2008) ; applied by Burov et al ( Belarus) in optical spectroscopy ( J. Appl. Spectroscopy, 76, 678, 2009; J. Appl. Spectroscopy, 77,65,2010) ; and extended from the fundamental perspective of criticality and phase transitions in nonlinear systems in work from the National Sun Yat Sen Univ. Taiwan (IEEE Photon. Tech. Lett.; 24, 2262, 2012).
