Additional information

This paper on a fibre grating based label-free biosensor has been cited by Wolfbeis [Review: Fiber-optic chemical sensors and biosensor, Anal.Chem.80, 4269,2008]. The impact of this paper stimulated Chen to develop an international multidisciplinary project on bio-photonics with 6 organisations from 5 countries resulting in him coordinating the €252k EU FP7-PEOPLE-2013-IRSES project (iPhoto-Bio, 2014-2018). The paper provided the basis for Chen to write the single-author book chapter ‘Optical Fibre Gratings for Chemical and Bio- Sensing’ in Current Developments in Optical Fiber Technology [ISBN 978-953-51-1148-1, DOI:10.5772/46191, 2013].
