Additional information

The significant role of the suppressed laser mode in VCSEL switching was confirmed in subsequent experiments by Qader et al which demonstrated i) ultra-wideband 150 GHz hysteresis (APL, 103, 021108,2013) and ii) robust irreversible polarization switching (IEEE PTL, 25 , 1173-1176,2013 ) . These observations provide the means for developing novel optical mono-stable and bi-stable elements.
